Connecting the Wiimote to the PC

There are seemingly a lot of problems that people have been suffering when they try to connect a Wiimote to a PC. We seem to have been the luckiest people in the world as the process proved to be simple for us.

First thing to do is to download the WiiFlash server files from http://wiiflash.bytearray.org/?page_id=50

NOTE: We unfortunately have a complex folder structure here at work that is very deep (not intellectually). I tried running the WiiFlash server from inside this structure and it failed. Moving the application to the desktop solved this problem and it worked beautifully.

We are using a Dell Latitude 820 laptop running:
  • Windows XP Professional
  • version 2002
  • Service Pack 3
  • Microsoft .Net Framework 3
  • 4gb RAM
  • 2.16 duo core

We followed the information on connecting a Wiimote using a Bluetooth connection found on the WiiFlash site:
http://wiiflash.bytearray.org/?page_id=25

  • I could not find the "Bluetooth favourites" icon I just went to Control panel > Bluetooth devices and set up from there. Perhaps if you can find the Bluetooth favourites it will be even easier to connect the Wiimotes.
Now we are connected it's time to learn about a nice spray painting effect.

Below is a video of the connection process.
